Rodrigo Ventura (PhD) is a tenured Associate Professor of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, and a senior researcher of the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR-Lisbon), part of the Laboratory of Robotics and Engineering Systems (LARSyS). He is also member of the International Space University (ISU) Adjunct Faculty. He has published more than 130 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences, on various topics intersecting Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. He is also co-inventor of several national and international patents on innovative solutions for robotic systems. He is a founding member of the Biologically-Inspired Cognitive Architecture society and alumni of the International Space University. He participated in several international and national research projects. Broadly, his research is focused on the intersection between Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, with particular interest in human-robot interaction, mobile manipulation, biologically inspired cognitive architectures, and machine learning. This research is driven by applications in space robotics, urban search and rescue robotics, aerial robots, and social service robots.
Rodrigo Ventura is also the coordinator of the Minor in Space Sciences & Technologies.
